Imagine growing up on the shore of a national marine park and never getting on the water or visiting an island. For many of Loreto’s youth and even adults, this is true. Sea Kayak Baja’s Community Programs aim to change this. We aim to inspire a conservation ethic in the decision-makers of tomorrow and support a healthy community today.
Three Community Programs
At Sea Kayak Baja, we dedicate 2% of ALL REVENUE to these community programs and the infrastructure that supports them. Whether or not there is profit, we’re dedicated to this. It’s not a “feel-good”, it’s core to who we are and why we exist. With infrastructure in place – administration, gear, training, insurance, dedicated space, etc – your support means more people can do more meaningful things.
Summer Course
Ages: 10-15
Duration: 1 week per group; 2 groups. In its 4th year!
“Curso de Verano” is a weeklong program that gives 24 schoolchildren from low-resource homes in Loreto the chance to learn, grow, and fall in love with the sea — all at no cost to their families.
With your help, they gain practical skills, confidence, and a new connection to nature. Sponsor today and help shape a young life:

The grand finale: a boat trip to the volcano island of Coronados! It’s an adventure that celebrates what students have learned. For many it’s a first, but hopefully not their last visit to an island or view of a dolphin or a sea lion.
Vida Mar
Ages: 13-15
Duration: Complete semester, weekly outings.
Inspired by the enthusiastic response to our Summer Course, VidaMar develops environmental care and maritime skills among teens in Loreto through weekly outdoor education, semester by semester, until they are adults.
Participants deepen their connections with each other and the natural world. They engage in citizen science, athletic challenges, environmental care, healthy social bonding, and learning life skills.

Club Nómadas de Loreto
Ages: Adult
Duration: Year round. Over 10 years so far!
Mission:
- To inspire love and awareness of the sea and action for its care
- To provide context for a supportive community
- To increase opportunities to paddle and learn in Loreto
Club Nomadas aims to inspire love for the sea and actions for its care by providing free-of-charge paddlesport training and outings for local residents. It builds a path for enthusiasts to become professionals and to give back to the community.
Both kids’ programs are being led by participants of Club Nomadas who have grown into positions of leadership, with support from Sea Kayak Baja coaches.
